Belimbing Wuluh sebagai Sumber Energi Alternatif

Energi adalah suatu hal yang tak dapat lepas dari kehidupan sehari-hari. Dari hari ke hari kebutuhan akan energi semakin meningkat, peningkatan ini dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor yaitu, gaya hidup, kepuasan manusia yang tak ada hentinya, semakin majunya peradaban manusia dan lain-lain. Energi berdasarkan sumbernya dibedakan atas 2 yaitu energi yang terbarukan dan yang tidak terbarukan. Energi yang sering digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari adalah energi yang tidak terbarukan. Dengan demikian energi tersebut semakin lama akan semakin berkurang. Contoh dari energi yang tak terbarukan adalah minyak bumi yang berasal dari fosil-fosil yang telah berjuta-juta tahun berada di dalam perut bumi.

Meihat hal tersebut, maka dibutuhkan suatu energi yang terbarukan sehingga dapat mengurangi penggunaan energi yang tak terbarukan seperti minyak bumi. Melihat potensi dari belimbing wuluh yang tumbuh subur di Indonesia maka penulis ingin memaparkan penggunaan dari belimbing wuluh sebagai medai sumber energi alternatif.

Belimbing wuluh yang dalam bahasa latin dikenal dengan nama avverhoa bilimbi adalah tanaman asli Amerika yang tumbuh subur di daerah yang banyak mendapat sinar matahari langsung tetapi cukup kelembaban udaranya. Belimbing Wuluh merupakan tumbuhan berbatang keras yang memiliki ketinggian mencapai 11 m. Biasanya ditanam di tempat yang cukup mendapatkan sinar matahari. Batangnya keras dan tidak bercabang banyak. Buahnya berwarna hijau muda, berbentuk lonjong sebesar ibu jari dan rasanya asam. Buahnya sering dipakai untuk memasak sehingga sering disebut juga belimbing sayur ataupun untuk membersihkan noda yang menempel pada kain seperti kuningan dan tembaga. Daunnya yang kecil berhadap-hadapan. Bunganya berbentuk bintang dan berwarna merah muda keunguan. Gambar dibawah ini menunjukkan belimbing wuluh.





Kandungan dan Khasiat Belimbing Wuluh: Belimbing wuluh bermanfaat sebagai anti radang karena mengandung flavon. Selain itu, kaliumnya melancarkan keluarnya air seni (diuretik) sehingga dapat menurunkan tekanan darah. Belimbing wuluh juga mampu mengeluarkan dahak dan menurunkan panas. Buahnya mengandung zat: asam-kalium-akolat. Ini adalah salah satu kegunaan dari belimbing wuluh diluar sebagai sumber energi alternatif.

Belimbing wuluh yang tumbuh subur di pekarangan rumah, dapat disulap menjadi zat pengurai yang mampu menghasilkan tenaga listrik alternatif, di tengah keluhan warga akan kenaikan tarif dasar listrik (TDL). Untuk menciptakan energi listrik tersebut, awalnya belimbing yang biasa digunakan sebagai sayuran ini dihaluskan untuk diambil airnya. Selanjutnya, dengan menggunakan media tanah yang ditaruh dalam gelas bekas air mineral ini, air belimbing ini disuntikan secukupnya.

Selanjutnya, masing masing gelas berisi tanah bercampur sari air belimbing ini dihubungkan dengan rangkaian kawat lempengan tembaga dan seng, guna mengalirkan arus listrik. Hasilnya, energi listrikpun tercipta dengan tegangan yang lumayan, yakni hingga mencapai 5 volt, cukup untuk menghidupkan lampu penerangan. Tegangan yang dihasilkan ini juga lebih besar dari tegangan satu buah batu baterai.

Alat dan Bahan yang diperlukan:
1) Belimbing Wuluh
2) Blender
3) Gelas plastic
4) Tanah
5) Air
6) Lempeng tembaga (sebagai elektroda positif)
7) Lempeng seng (sebagai elektroda negatif)
8) Kabel

Cara pembuatan Energi Alternatif dari Blimbing Wuluh:
1) Blender blimbing wuluh sampe halus (jadi jus belimbing wuluh; masak jus apel) sehingga diperoleh cairan yang menyerupai air (tanpa serabut/ampas).
2) Siapkan gelas-gelas plastik dan diisi dengan tanah liat (bukan tanah berpasir ataupun yang mengandung sampah). Gelas tersebut dapat berasala dari sisa minuman air mineral.
3) Masukan jus blimbing wuluh tersebut ke dalam gelas-gelas plastik yang sudah diisi tanah.





4) Susun berderet gelas-gelas yang sudah diisi tanah dan jus blimbing wuluh




5) Buat rangkaian elektroda dengan menyambungkan antara lempeng tembaga dan lempeng seng menggunakan kabel (kira-kira dengan kabel masing-masing 15cm)
6) Susun rangkaian elektroda tersebut ke dalam gelas-gelas tanah yang telah disiapkan sebelumnya, dengan susunan lempeng tembaga-lempeng seng-lempeng tembaga dan begitu seterusnya, jadi satu gelas akan berisi susunan satu lempeng tembaga dan satu lempeng seng dari rangkaian elektroda yang berbeda
7) Siapkan dua rangkaian elektroda dengan kabel yang lebih panjang dan hanya menggunakan satu lempeng saja, satu tembaga dan satu seng. Untuk gelas terluar (gelas pertama dan terakhir yang hanya memiliki satu lempeng: gelas pertama lempeng tembaga dan gelas terakhir lempeng seng) disambungkan dengan rangkaian elektroda baru ini. Gelas pertama dengan yang rangkaian seng, gelas terakhir disambungkan dengan rangkaian tembaga. Ujung dari dua kabel rangkaian terakhir inilah yang akan disambungkan dengan lampu yang akan dinyalakan.



8) Jadilahrangkaiansederhanapembangkitenergialternatifini. Satugelasbisamenghasilkanenergisebesar 0,5 volt, jadiuntukmenghasilkanenerg yang lebihbesartinggalmenambahkanjumlahgelasdalamrangkaian yang akandibuat. Satugelasrangkaianinibisabertahankuranglebihselama 15 hari.



Menurutpenulis, energilistrikiniterciptakarenabelimbingwuluh yang memilikitingkatkeasamantinggihinggadapatmenghantarkan ion danelektron yang adapadalempengantembagadanseng.Sehinggaterciptalaharuslistrik. Rata-rata, 10 butirbelimbingwuluhinimampumenciptakanteganganlistrikhinggamencapai 2,5 volt atausetaradengansatubuahbatubateraikering. Bahkanmenurutpengalamannya, energilistrikdaribelimbingsayurinidapatbertahan lama hinggamencapaisatubulan.
